Spreading the word about their Florida franchise via the new medium of television in 1958, Burger King sold territorial rights and franchises soon thereafter, prompting the opening of 274 stores by 1967. Although they were competing with a McDonald's on every corner, Burger King continued to drive the industry forward through innovation. They were the first to produce the french fry technique used today, and to introduce specialty sandwiches including fish, chicken, ham & cheese, and steak. By forging a deal with Disney, Burger King appealed to kids with fun toys branded for the films Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Toy Story.
